O.K. So like TUesday I got a PS3 40GB and got ea's SKATE and my brother got Madden 07. On the back of skate it says 3gb are neaded, i guess for the hdd? anyway thats cool with me. and on madden it says only 6mb. Heres the problem, last night i went onto the playstation network for the first time and was going to download the motorstorm 2 trailer(which is sweet), and it came up with a message saying I had 28gb/37gb on my hdd. I freaked out. I downloaded the trailer which was only 61mb. So my question is if skate only requires 3gb and madden is 6mb and theirs 1,024mb in a gb should i have like 34 or 33GB of space left. Why am I at 28. I havent loaded music or anything. Im almost at 10gb of space used and Ive only had the ps3 for 25 hours. what happened to it? please help! thanx alot!!!!!!! Do I have enogh memory to keep my for at least 2 years? HELP!!!!
dude dont freak out, what happens with the ps3 is with most games it installs some files onto your hdd so that the game runs a hell of a lot faster, the best thing you can do is buy an external hard drive you can get like 320 GB of space for about £50/$100 thats what i have done and now i have every simpsons and south park episode on the hard drive and can watch them through ps3 and still have 260 gb free

just treat it like a computer, when your hard drive is full, do some spring cleaning, delete $hit you dont need like that trailer, just watch it on youtube, whenever you download a demo, delete it when you've had enough, when you get a new game, delete old game files.

alright first off, when a product says it has xx amount of space it really doesnt, its always a little less
and being that its a ps3 drive im sure there are some sony software or somethign on it(probably no more than 1 Gb)
i cant imagine why skate would take 3 gb of data but whatever to that i say.
but see this is why xbox pwns ps3, i only have a 15gb and my saves on take like 50 mb for most games/replays, i have 5 demos and 5 ripped cd's( but i just stream my Zune 30GB to it so music is all good homie) and i still have 9 gb left
